The most up-to-date Java Runtime Engine (JRE) can be freely downloaded from http://java.sun.com. The JRE includes the Java plug-in which allows web browsers to execute Java applets.

These are self-contained 16 MB installation files. After you've run one of the installation files, you may need to restart your browser.
