The road network generated by the minimum-cost algorithm is shown as dark red lines, with the existing roads shown as wide pink lines. The computed minimum-cost roads connect the sources and the sinks by means of a number of separate road trees. These roads frequently follow the existing roads, and generally follow contours or take gently sloping paths.
