Volume Visualization

Volume data may be interactively visualized by Detect/NDE using isosurfaces. The image shown here uses this feature to display a 3D rendering of the reflections from a graphite-epoxy specimen with impact damage. The volume data from this specimen was windowed using a time gate just below the front surface reflection, and extending to the back surface. A spiral-shaped defect increasing in size with depth is apparent in the image. The extent and shape of this damage can be viewed from any angle.
