BCS Delivers Database Tools for Technologists Print E-mail

Victoria, British Columbia - May 3, 2011 - Barrodale Computing Services Ltd. (BCS), a provider of advanced software solutions since 1978, today announced that it has completed the first stage of its transition to a software products company focused on delivering database tools for technologists.

“Many technologists avoid using databases, often because they view DBMSs as business-oriented systems that are too cumbersome, slow, or costly for technologists” notes Dr. Ian Barrodale, President of BCS. He added “... based on our 33 years of experience in handling large complex files occurring in, for example, meteorology, ocean technology, defense sciences, and electoral geography, we have now completed development and testing of three database plug-ins designed specifically for our customers’ needs”. In the past, BCS provided R&D consulting services and developed customized software for many diverse customers in the public and private sectors, but now its focus is on developing and marketing database tools for technologists.

All three BCS products run on various DBMSs, including the free versions that most database vendors provide these days. Indeed, one product (UFI) enables users to index and query huge files without having to reformat or load them into a database.

BCS has today launched a completely revamped website www.barrodale.com where products are more prominent than details of the projects that have been its mainstay in the past.
